Wellness and preventative care play an integral role in keeping your pet healthy for many years to come, and cat & dog vaccinations are a major component of their ongoing treatment. Ensuring that the pets of Old Town and surrounding neighborhoods remain healthy and happy is our highest priority, which is why we offer vaccines to keep them protected from disease. Routine vaccinations help build up your pet’s immunity to resist viruses such as rabies, distemper, and influenza. Your veterinarian will help you figure out which vaccines your companion will need based on their risk of exposure, and when they will need to be revaccinated. Call us at (312) 428-2571 to get started.

Cat and Dog Vaccinations we Carry

We recommend vaccines for a majority of our canine and feline patients, but can also do vaccine titers to check if your pet has the antibodies they need to fight disease. However, pet vaccinations are the most common service we offer for protection against harmful infections and pathogens. The vaccines we carry for cats and dogs include:

Cats

  • FVRCP – feline viral rhinotracheitis-calicivirus-panleukopenia

  • Rabies

  • Feline Bordetella

  • Feline leukemia

Dogs

  • DHPP – distemper-hepatitis-parvo-parainfluenza

  • Rabies

  • Bordetella (kennel cough)

  • Lyme

  • Leptospirosis

  • Canine influenza

How Often Your Pet Should Be Vaccinated in Old Town, Chicago

Puppies and kittens generally receive a series of distemper boosters beginning at 6-8 weeks old and ending at 12-16 weeks. For adult dogs and cats, they should receive their rabies vaccine annually, and their Bordetella vaccine biannually (if recommended). Bordetella, Lyme, leptospirosis, feline leukemia, and canine influenza are given depending on your pet’s risk of exposure to those diseases. Your veterinarian will be happy to discuss your pet’s needs with you and develop a vaccination plan that keeps them at their healthiest through every life stage.

We know how much your pet means to you, and we can assure you that they’ll receive the best care every time they visit. If you have any concerns or questions about pet vaccinations or are considering adding a new vaccine to their regimen, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for more information. There is nothing we love more than helping people and their pets, and we are grateful for the trust you give us to care for your companion.
